Wendy: Saviour of PBB 2

We saw it in the news. PBB ratings are not quite as high as its previous ratings. Why you ask. Well if you watch a single episode of PBB 2, you would notice that it is not as interesting as PBB 1. First of, the current personalities inside the house are not a good mix. The PBB 1 housemates were much more funny, colorful, and real. The current housemates are so dull, boring, and safe. I guess you can say that the second batch of housemates are really playing the game. The problem I think is that the current batch of housemates have seen PBB 1 and all the other editions. Therefore, they are more prone to act cautiously . And in a bid to spark some conflict inside Kuya's house, Uma was asked to enter the PBB house once again some few weeks ago. And then I guess that did it! We saw massive fireworks inside the house brought about by Wendy. Of course we all know that conflict beget a rise in ratings. Personally, I hate the show. What kind of values are we as a nation possibl

Habla Espanol?

I am from the ciudad de flores , ciudad de Zamboanga . We speak a Spanish creole called Chabacano . Chabacano is 90% Spanish and 10% Tagalog and Bisaya . Recently, I decided to learn a third language. I chose to learn Spanish because of the fact that I know how to speak Chabacano . I figured I won't have too much trouble with the vocabulary. During the course of learning Spanish though, I discovered that this sudden desire to learn Spanish is also an urge to discover my Spanish roots. We all have Spanish roots (or at least most of us). I was speaking to a online friend in a chat room the other day. I greeted him, " Hola , como esta ?" I then got this reply, " Arriba , Arriba ." This experience proves that the once Spanish conversant Filipinos are now gone. Granted, the Spanish language fails in comparison to English in terms of utility. I myself am not fluent with Spanish primarily because there is no one to practice it with. Some might argue as

No TV!!!

Yes, you read right, no television. That's what I have been doing for three days now. According to some studies, television can shorten ones attention span. Several articles also say that watching television a few hours before sleeping is not recommended because this can lower the quality of your sleep. It is for these reasons that I have decided (at least on weekdays) not to watch TV. Aside from those reasons mentioned above, I realized that watching TV every night takes an average of two hours from me every night (which could very well be spent for studying). For three days I have not watched the idiot box. Instead I concentrated on studying spanish. Weekends though would be my tv days. I like watching the news more than reading it. Anyway, I am making incredible progress in my quest to speak spanish como un nativo. It is very hard but thanks to my knowledge in Chabacano, I don't have much difficulty when it comes to the vocabulary.

Remember the Betrayal

It is half a century ago when America deceived the Filipinos. Shortly after Japan bombed Pearl Harbour, they attacked the Philippines (mainly because she was a possession of USA at that time). General Mc Arthur ( described by William Manchester as one of the most gifted men-at-arms the US has produced) was in charge of protecting the Philippines against the Japanese. Three weeks after the world war II, president Benjamin Franklin told the Filipinos that help was coming. General Mc Arthur and his men fought gallantly against the Japanese not knowing that help was never coming. By January 1942, the Filipinos became desperate and angry. Although, Mc Arthur and his troops have successfully vied for time, the Japanese were still gaining ground in their campaign. The aid that America promised never arrived. When Australia discovered that Japan will be attacking them, they asked their troops to return from Africa. When Churchill and Franklin learned of this, they decided to send A
