How to Fix a Broken Fibrella

Image
Do you have broken Fibrella-branded umbrellas at home?  You can now have your Fibrellas repaired at SM North EDSA.  Since automatic Fibrellas are now very expensive, I decided to have mine repaired. I had two Fibrellas and there were three broken parts. They charged me a total of 130 pesos for the repair of the two umbrellas. After thirty minutes, they were ready.

La Fiesta Largest Filipino Buffet Review

Image
It was my mom's last week in the city and we decided to make reservations at La Fiesta: Largest Filipino Buffet in SM Mall of Asia. When we arrived, they said our name was not on the list but that we could walk-in as we were there at 11am when the lunch buffet began. They had a good variety of seafood dishes, desserts, Filipino food like Lechon, street foods, soups, Sushi, and salads. Most of the dishes on the buffet table was pretty average. Nothing really stood out. The only thing that I liked about their buffet was that they offered coffee, tea, and beer but at the rate of 799 pesos, I don't think it was really worth it. Some seafood dishes like the tuna and salmon were cooked on demand and were brought to your table. My sister in law reported that there were tiny cockroaches that came out of the soft drinks dispenser. She said that the staff cleaned it promptly but the incident put a damper on our experience. There was also a very loud band that played songs requested by

Guevarra's By Chef Laudico Buffet Review

Image
It is 2022 and things seem to be getting back to (new) normal. One of the things that I missed doing from the old days was eating in a buffet restaurant. Since my mom was visiting me in the city, we decided to have lunch with my brother and his wife at Guevarra's By Chef Laudico. Guevarra's By Chef Laudico is located in San Juan and half an hour away from the Airbnb that we rented. It is a big old wooden house that has been converted into a restaurant. Inside, it was very spacious. Top Dishes to Try For me, the three best dishes to try were the Roast Beef, Lechon, and Kare-Kare. Reservation I recommend reserving a seat online as there are a lot of guests even on weekdays. Schedule It's best to arrive before the buffet is open so you can pick a strategically located table (near the food). Lunch 11am-2pm Maagang Salu-Salo 5pm-7pm Dinner 7:30pm-10pm Breakfast 7:30am-10am (only available on Sundays)  Late Lunch 2:30pm-4:30pm (only available on weekends)  Service The service wa

The Silver to Gold Ratio In Spanish Philippines

Image
The silver to gold ratio refers to how much silver one needs to buy gold. For example if you need 10 grams of fine silver to purchase a gram of pure gold, the silver to gold ratio is 10:1.  During the latter half of the 19th century, the Casa de Moneda de Manila began minting 21 karat gold coins. Each peso coin weighed 1.6915 grams and was also available in bigger denominations such as two and four pesos.  Source: https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces34262.html To complement the peso gold coins, the mint also created 90% silver centimo coins in denominations of 10, 20, and 50 centimos . The 50 centimos coins weighed 12.98 grams. This means that 25.96 grams of 90% silver were equivalent to 1.6915 grams of 21 karat gold. So if a 90% silver coin weighing 25.96 grams was equivalent to a 87.5% gold coin weighing 1.6915 grams, how many grams of 100% silver were needed to purchase a gram of 100% gold?  The answer is 15.79 grams of 100% silver were equivalent to 1 gram of 100% gold.  In o

Is this the Beginning of Hyperinflation?

Are high sugar prices a preview of what is to come? In this article, we are going to take a look at how much sugar prices have gone up since May. Since it is hard to remember the price of every single thing we buy at the supermarket, it is easy not to notice price increases. But did you know that sugar prices have gone up by almost 20% since May? You may not have noticed it but ever since I started buying groceries online, I have been able to track the recent series of price increases in sugar. In May 2022, white sugar was at 65 pesos. In June, it rose to 71 pesos per kilo. And the last time I bought sugar, it again rise to 77 pesos per kilo. That is an increase of around 20% in just two months! While a 20% increase in two months may not be noticeable to many people, this may just be the beginning.  Aside from soda, sugar is also used in making disinfectants as well as rhum and brandy.
